Why I chose Maryland: "After visiting Maryland, I knew I wanted to become a part of the excellence the team exhibits on and off the pitch. The daughter Gwyn and Matthew Zollinger, she was also an honor roll student at Hempfield. In addition to field hockey, Zollinger excelled at lacrosse, lettering three years and leading the team in scoring all three seasons. Zollinger also participated in the Junior Olympics in 2007. With her club team, East Coast Field Hockey, she gained exposure to international hockey on tours of Germany and Barbados. Nevertheless, her outstanding play while with Hempfield was good enough to earn her honorable mention All-WPIAL.Ī midfield/forward, Zollinger participated in the USA Futures program from 2005 through 2009, playing in the National Field Hockey Festival from 2006-08. She made her way to the Irish Senior National Team by the end of the 2007-08 season, competing with the team at the Senior Celtic Cup.Īlso a skilled soccer, cricket and rugby player, Frazer played her club hockey with Ballymoney HC. The Derry & District Young Sportswoman of the Year as a freshman in 2005-06, Frazer played with the Irish national teams for four years, helping them take a bronze medal at the U16 European Games in 2006.
